An experienced Authorised Person (Electrical) is required to join a major data centre project in Frankfurt, Germany. This is a critical site-based role, responsible for the safe operation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems (LV/MV) across the site. You will work closely with Senior Authorised Persons, Energy Marshalls, and the Commissioning team to enforce electrical safety procedures, manage permits, and support energisation activities.

This is a hands-on role for qualified electricians or electrical engineers with strong high-voltage and medium-voltage experience. The position offers exposure to technically complex, mission-critical data centre infrastructure and a collaborative, safety-driven work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce Mercury’s Electrical Safe System of Work (ESSOW) and ensure adherence to Control of Hazardous Energies Procedures
  • Issue, approve, and manage permits for all LV and MV electrical works
  • Follow Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures and permit-to-work systems to ensure safe energisation and isolation
  • Conduct regular audits, inspections, and reporting of site electrical safety
  • Ensure segregation of hazardous areas and proper use of PPE
  • Assist in internal audits such as COHE self-assessments and temporary electrics inspections
  • Support Senior Authorised Persons to remain compliant with site safety standards
  • Identify potential hazards and implement mitigation measures
  • Perform testing, commissioning, and energisation of electrical systems including MCCs, VSDs, distribution panels, motors, lighting, and small power circuits
  • Review and interpret project drawings, SLDs, wiring diagrams, schematics, and vendor manuals
  • Conduct insulation resistance, point-to-point, grounding, and live-dead-live testing
  • Execute switching schedules in coordination with the Energy Marshall and SAP
  • Inspect and sign off panels, perform pre-energisation checklists, and approve energisation requests within nominated voltage ranges
  • Participate in commissioning activities from Level 1 through Level 5, supporting the full system handover
  • Monitor and advise on PPE and safety equipment condition, ensuring calibration and replacements as needed
  • Assist in electrical incident investigations
  • Maintain accurate records in Mercury’s snagging and progress systems
  • Report all electrical events to SAP and the Commissioning Authority (CxA) promptly
  • Issue weekly progress reports highlighting changes in electrical conditions
  • Provide timely updates and guidance to project engineers, site supervisors, and commissioning teams

Essential Criteria

  • Qualified electrician (National Craft Certificate or equivalent Level 6 qualification) or equivalent electrical engineering award
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience on MV systems, with additional LV experience preferred
  • Completed recognised MV/HV switching course if nominated for MV Authorised Person
  • Strong understanding of electrical testing, verification, and commissioning procedures
  • Proven experience delivering HV/MV infrastructure projects, including data centres, DNO/IDNO networks, or power generation facilities
  • Knowledge of EN and local electrical regulations and standards
  • Experienced in supervising advanced cable works, phasing, testing, and spiking (where licenced)

What’s on Offer

  • €95,000 – €110,000 base salary, dependent on experience
  • Full rotational package, including accommodation and travel
  • €1,000 net monthly living allowance
  • Work on a technically complex, high-profile data centre project in Germany
  • Long-term exposure to mission-critical infrastructure delivery across Europe
  • Supportive, safety-focused, and professional project environment
  • Opportunities for career development and progression within a leading European contractor
